The volcano has slowed the past few days. So no one got any pix.

Mahalo for checking in. Please keep checking back.

August 18 Report from the USGS
No ocean entries or Paliuli cascades. Numerous incandescent spots,
and one short open channel of lava, highlight Pulama pali and the gentle slope
between it and Paliuli. Bright glow from above the pali, along the trace of the
Mother's Day flow, denotes either breakouts or fire. Small breakouts are also
taking place on the coastal flat near Paliuli and, farther out, in the Highcastle
lobe.
0850 August 18 update
Long-period seismic activity at Kilauea's summit has picked up
noticeably in the past several hours, part of the waxing and waning of this
kind of activity since it began in early June. |

Took the night off to rest the foot. Pele seems to be
taking a rest also. Latest reports from USGS suggest she may be ready to get back in
action

Looking up at this flow |
This shoot required walking over two active flows and
standing in the middle of two Lobes of lava pouring over the cliffs. We had about a 20 x
20 foot space between them. But what a show! |

And then we all
go home |
